Titanic Centennial

FRIDAY, APRIL 13 – SUNDAY, APRIL 15, 2012
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI

The sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic on April 15, 1912 has been the subject of fascination for nearly a century.  Before air travel, the ocean liner was the most impressive and luxurious form of transportation in the world, embodying opulence and man’s continuing technical achievement.  When launched, the White Star Line’s Titanic, with the height of an eleven-story building and 883 feet in length (1/6 of a mile), was the largest man-made object ever to travel.  The story of the “unsinkable” ship on its maiden voyage and the heroism and courage of its passengers and crew have been immortalized in blockbuster films, a Broadway musical, and in numerous documentaries and books.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, the Fox Theatre and the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission have planned a Commemorative Weekend of events.

The three events range from $10 to $500, so everyone can “step back in time” and experience the history, fashion, food and music of the elegant Edwardian Era.
